Battle at Kruger activities for younger students

Here are some activities for younger students using/based on the Battle at Kruger video.

If you could be one of these animals (or any animal), which one would you be? Why? (personalization)

Describe a good (or scary) experience you had with an animal. Tell what made you feel the way you did. (personalization)

Think of as many words as possible to describe each animal/the environment in the video. (vocabulary)

What would it be like to live in Kruger National Park? Do you think you would like there living or not? Why? (opinion, extension)

Would you rather live there or here? Why? (compare and contrast, opinion)
How is it different for animals to live in a park like Kruger instead of living in a zoo? (compare and contrast)

What animals live in Kruger National Park. Pick one and find out more about it so you can write a report about typical food, habitat, etc. (extension)

Interview someone who keeps exotic pets or an employee of a local zoo. Ask them what it’s like to be around the animals: what’s most challenging/fun/scary about working with them. (community-integrated learning, interviewing, note-taking, wider world knowledge)
